In the Qur’an, the people to whom zakat will be given are divided into eight classes. The two of these are the poor and needy. For those who cannot meet their basic needs, zakat assistance is made once or regularly in the following sectors in either in-kind or cash assistance: livelihood, food, maternity, clothing, disaster and emergency, shelter, education, health, disability support and hygiene.
